Matthew Martinek is the sole composer, performer and arranger of his own material. Known as a highly prolific songwriter, he consequently boasts a sizable back catalogue of unreleased material and has claimed to have written over 200 songs in the last 12 months including, unlikely as it may seem, a musical. His need for complexity and depth within each song's lush orchestral arrangement makes his music difficult to classify. You may agree that his ambition to increase our rate of musical absorption and his need for the transcendence of multiple genres is a worthy yet risky aspiration. This, in addition to his uniquely stylized vocal qualities, distinguishes his work from many others. One might find the arrangements to be slightly overwhelming if not followed from their beginning through their distinctive, invariably deliberate, journey's end. Now on Reverbnation and Facebook, his home made demos offer the chance to absorb this unique musical perspective into one's own psyche.
